"To me, New York was Jackson Pollock sipping vodka and dripping paint onto a raw canvas." Edie Sedgewick

Edie Sedgwick (April 20, 1943 - November 16, 1971 was known as an American Actress, socialite, model and heiress and most importantly; she was famous for being Andy Warhol's muses.

I idolise her unique sense of fashion which went against what society considered to be acceptable at the time. Her uniformed look would consist of black leotards, mini dresses and large chandelier earrings.

Her sense of fashion then is still apparent till this very day with mini dresses and leotard storming at it's peak. I absolutely adore the photographs of Edie during her career. She always looked so natural and comfortable in her own skin despite her personal struggle with anorexia.

The photographs have inspired me to test out my manual film camera which my dad had passed on to me. I hope to be able create the same effect like the images you see hear.

Enjoy

Bamboo Craft

I recently purchased a Wacom Bamboo Craft. For those who are wondering what this is, it is a creative device allowing you to create artisitic pieces, edit photos and add personal touches to various sorts of imagery through the touch of a pen which is transmitted through to the computer.

I made this purchase to further my graphic designs skills and draw up some fashion illustrations. I love to sketch and draw on my weekends, so I am very excited!

I will be sure to loads my works once they are done!

Crazy week!

Hi guys,

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past week. I haven't forgotten about my blog and the readers who are dedicated to my posts.

Its been a crazy week where I barely any time to breathe or sleep. Waking up at 5 in the morning and coming home really late after a crazy schedule had taken its toll on me and now I am back! I promise this week will make up for the previous with more updates and information on designers, clothes line, brands, catwalks and reviews on everything apparent within my life.

If there are any requests as to the topics you would like me to inform you on please feel free to drop me a line!

Coco Avant Chanel

I was trying to find myself a surge of inspiration and got this film to feel that. I wanted to feel motivated and to be more creative and this movie had made me utterly dissapointed.

Coco Avant Chanel is about her life before she started the Chanel empire. The process of the film is quite slow and you aren't given much insight into her passion as a designer. Personally I saw her view to fashion as a devotion instead. This notion isn't exactly a terribly bad thing, but you can't help but wonder whether she was ever interested in design and fashion after the film.

Fate, desperation and independance were the main drivers that helped her become the designer she is and believing that all women didn't have to wear corsets and bustiers to look beautiful to men.

What I did like though, is her stubborness to conform to society's expectations. She refused to wear what was in trend and would only wear what she believed to be comfortable. She refused to look alluring to the male eye and chose to be covered and mysterious instead. Her individual nature is reflected through the empire she started that still carries her name till this very day.

Even though I wasn't captured by the pace of the movie, Chanel had inspired me through her beliefs, stubborness and extravagant sense of style throughout the film

Meet my next Tony Bianco purchase: Betty

This two toned pair was absolutely beautiful! The black bow was cute and I couldn't help but take my card out and off went the swipe! This month is definitely my shoe month :) I am falling in love more and more with Tony Bianco

Kaboodle Designs

I have an endless love for photography and fashion and combining the 2 have always been a big passion of mine. You may have saw inmy previous posts that I wear these camera necklaces nearly everywhere I go. The moments I laid eyes on them, it made my heart melt and still do till this everyday.

Everyone has investment pieces in their wardrobe, that being singlets, jeans, blazers and bags. To me though, this was the cheapest investment piece I bought and goes with everything I wear.

The bold camera necklace design adds a sense of femininity with pearls and diamonds to represent the lens. The camera's body isn't painted black, it's actually faux leather....like an actual camera. I couldn't stop touching and feeling it and till this very day, neither can anyone else. It really is a show stopper and I keep falling in love with this piece more and more!

Funkis about clogs!

Images from the funkis website with permission

You probably would have noticed that the clog craze is starting to makes it's comeback....slowly! They are not yet stocked in all mainstream stores but funkis, a swedish design store are one step ahead and are making sales on these clogs already!

They bring me back to my childhood! I was probably 7 when my mum bought my firt pair of clogs. I was so in love! Whilst my friends were in the rain with gumboots, I was wearing clogs as my form of protection.....it was also very fashionable.

Shoulder pads have made their comeback bigger and better and I am not at all surprised the swedish clogs are back!

With the fashion trends constantly jumping back and fourth, I predict the clog fashion will complement long and ankle length woollen chain socks with vintage flower dresses. This would probably be teamed up with velvet slouch bags and dark red lipstick! LOVE!

My New Tony Bianco's

These purple pumps are now mine! Winter is such a dark season! The city is like a sea of black in this weather! I thought it would be great to differentiate myself from the crowd with this hot new pair! I am so in love with suede at the moment....too in love that I sprayed this pair with waterproofer so many times I lost count! I am constantly in fear of the damage winter will have on this pair!

Dolce and Gabbana 2010

The following images are dedicated to my friends Jannus Estoesta and Ken Obciana. I was looking through the Dolce and Gabbana Collection and couldn't help picturing them storming away on a catwalk with these looks!

I appreciate people who dare to experiment with clothes and Jannus and Ken definitely do! They are up for any photo opportunity and are always ready to make love for the camera.

The Dolce and Gabbana collection, is very simplistic yet so classy! I am loving the military boots these models are wearing, I am still looking for a pair myself!

From the images you will see that singlets and tailored pants are big! This is complemented with strong and scruffed military boots, belts and buckles all in very neutral tones.

Brown seems to be the new black for men! It's so much more neutral and softer in tone as opposed to the usual black.

I especially adore the brown coat worn by the model in the second panel! Hope viewers are liking this new wave of fashpiration from the men's world as much as I do.

“Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.” Coco Chanel

I was rampaging through my wardrobe and found these red stockings perfectly packaged from who knows when. I have a bad habit of buying lots of clothes, storing them and wondering where they all went. I tend to surprise myself everytime I look through my closet! It always makes my room cleaning experience that extra bit exciting!

The weather in Sydney was forecasted to rain this whole weekend, but it was so sunny! Sales are going off the roof with end of financial year sales. I bought so so much and I currently have a huge dent in my bank cos of it but regardless, I think I am in love! I can't wait to show you all my new wardrobe pieces!!

Below I am wearing my bright red stockings, boots and denim jacket from Forever New, vintage black dress and cotton on necklace.

Karl Lagerfeld

Besides practising my photographic work during my spare time, I have a love of reading biographies. Reading about people's lives and going through their journey to meet their dream is always so inpiring to me. It makes everything seem so reachable and everything impossible possible!

Today, I was reading Karl Lagerfeld. It all started off with Lagerfeld winning first prize at a wool contest, where he became Pierre Balmain's design assistant at a young age of 17. Three years in, he had become and art director for Jean Patou, wher he had deepen his knowledge in history, architecture, music and french.

Perfume had become as important as fashion for Lagerfeld, which had triggered him to launch "CHLOE" in 1975. His initiative made him the first designer to brand a scent globally before having a fashion label! After this success came more perfume labels to add to name.

By 1984, he created his own "KARL LAGERFELD" line whilst collaborating with the house of CHANEL and signed in new collaborations with CHLOE!

Like me, Karl Hagerfeld had a passion for photography and decided to move behind the lens in 1987 and build up his own advertising campaigns. These campaign had become part of a book and his talent led him to do photo shoots for prestigous magazines as one of his very many jobs.

Karl Lagerfeld is a man of many talents. His passion is what drove his success. He adapted more than one skill and used it to his advantage!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope that one day....I will be just as talented as Lagerfeld himself!

Below are Karl Lagerfeld's most recent collection. They look absolutely divine!

Enjoy

“Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions.” Coco Chanel

So the last couple of days, my net has been going through maintenance, I have entered boot camp and have just recovered from being crazy sick and now.....I am back!

I found these Nude Lucy tights the other day that looked crazy funky! So I decided to dress it up and show you all, the look I have come up with!

I was inspired by music (with the crazy week in bed, work and boot camp music was my only sanctuary) and went for a dark punkish look with accessories to finish the look!

Here I am wearing a Cotton On top/jumper/dress with gold shoulder sequins, my new black Novo boots, silver Nude Lucy tights and a mix of accessories by Sportsgirl, Forever New, Diva and Equip.

Also, I am going to start mixing my blog up a bit with Men's fashion as well! It would be great to have insight into their sense of style. I see it as an inspiration to a new wave of women's fashion. We are already doing the boy leg jeans, the boyfriend jacket and white collared shirt, who knows what would be next! So stay tuned!

“Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.” Coco Chanel

Fashion is history repeating itself....but better! Who would have thought that bright coloured blazers would be back in the know or the punk rock glamour that had been brought by Courtney Love. Each time fashion repeats it gets bigger, better an edgier! What use to be second hand is now retro and vintage!

I couldn't help but look back in 2008, where Jil Sander, Dsquared, Versace and Burberry were strutting out their bright bold designs to the world. I felt inspired and treated myself to this bright and bold pink blazer from Forever New!

I felt like I was doing a legally blonde, walking through a sea of black suits!

This image was taken in the early 1990s where bright colours filled the pages of fashion magazines. Image from Modelina

Bright colours continue to rule the runway in Spring 2008. Image from Style hog

Now it's 2010 and I rule my own creative world with my bold statement in colour! Here I am wearing pink blazer by Forever New, Boots by Anne Michelle, Vintage top, leggings from Cotton On and accessories from Diva.
